Japanese, Indian PMs visited world renowned ‘Sidi Saiyyad Jalli’

Bilkulonline.com, Ahmedabad: Japanese Prime Minister Mr. Shinzo Abe, accompanied by his wife Ms Akie Abe along with his Indian counterpart Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi today visited the world famous Sidi Saiyyed Mosque more popularly known as “Sidi Saiyyid ki Jaali”, built in 1573, located in India’s first World Heritage City, Ahmedabad’.

The Japanese Prime Minister Mr. Shinzo Abe, Mrs. Abe and Indian Prime Minister were very much pressed with the artistic carving and history of the Jalli. The accompanying Japanese delegation also exhibited keen interest in the Jalli. Only recently the Ahmedabad city was accorded the status of first ‘World Heritage City’ of India.

At the first sight it seems that the entire jalli has been made from a single red-send stone, but, only looking closely reveals that they are different pieces but very delicately jointed to given an impression of a single piece. The century old unique carving of the Jalli has made African origin Sidi Saiyyad world famous.

The unique carving of the Jalli has given 600-year-old Ahmedabad city a distinctive identity.

The Jalli was visited by the Czar Nicholas II of Russia during his world tour in 1890. The British Queen Elizabeth had also visited the place in 1961.
