Palaj Gandhinagar, Dec 25: Indian Army has selected IIT Gandhinagar (IIT GN) as their research hub and will sign an agreement with IITGN to collaborate in identifying problems faced by the Indian Army and technical solutions. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed on Tuesday, (December 27, 2016).
Lt Gen Subrata Saha UYSM, YSM, VSM** Deputy Chief of Army Staff (Planning & Systems) with his team of officers will be in IIT Palaj Campus to sign the agreement. Prof Sudhir K Jain Director of IITGN, said, “It is a historic event for the institute and IIT GN will do its best in providing technical solutions to problems being faced by Indian Army.”
This is the first time that Indian Army has decided to collaborate with academic institution to help them in solving the problems being faced by troops deployed on borders. This initiative “Make Projects” by Indian Army is in line with GOI “Make in India” Program.
IITGN will help in identifying problems faced by the Indian Army while operating in extreme weather conditions and border areas etc. The institute will work towards addressing such issues through research and development activities and projects.
