Crraft of Art gears up to combine the magic of music and monument with the 8th Edition of ‘Water Festival’ at the picturesque Adalaj Ni Vav

• Founder Birwa Qureshi unveils the line-up of artists for the much-awaited music carnival

Continuing with its tradition to reintroduce monuments to people by utilizing music festivals, Crraft of Art, an initiative founded by Birwa Qureshi is all geared to host the 8th edition of the Water Festival on November 25th at Adalaj Ni Vav to celebrate the World Heritage Week 2018. The line-up of artists for the much-awaited festival was unveiled today by Birwa Qureshi, who is also a noted Bharat Natyam and Folk Dancer.
The 8th edition of the Water Festival will see renowned musicians performing at the resplendent monument. While noted Tabla Player Ustad Fazal Qureshi, son of late Ustad Allarakha will mesmerize the audience with his tabla beats, distinguished music composer and member of India’s popular band Indus Creed, Zubin Balaporia will enthrall music connoisseurs with his unbeatable keyboard symphonies. Other stalwarts performing at the festival include acclaimed guitarist/composer Sanjay Divecha and celebrated Sarangi player – Dilshad Khan from the Sikar Gharana, a popular name in Bollywood who has played the Sarangi for more than 500 movies.

Bass virtuoso Sheldon D’Silva will be there to enchant the audience with his classical guitar pieces while drummer Arun Kumar, who has carved a niche for himself in the world of percussion as one of the few drummers who do inter-disciplinary music, is all set to spell magic. Music aficionados can also look forward to the performance by Navin Sharma, an eminent Dholak player who has performed with many master musicians over his career and with many ensembles including jazz, rock, pop, fusion, as well as ghazal and bhajan.

Weaving an enchanting ambiance of harmonized music for the audience will be guest artist Kutle Khan, the multi-talented folk musician, a formidable wooden castanets player who has shared the stage with various leading artists, stunning performer, and multi-instrumentalist. Weaving rich melodies of Sufi music with traditional Rajasthani folk music, Kutle has wooed audience

around 70+ countries with his powerful music. Overall, the Water Festival will allow the viewers to experience the magnificence of the beautiful step well of Adalaj amidst the ambiance of enchanting music.
The festival was introduced by Crraft of Art way back in the year 2010, at Sarkhej Roza, as a part of the celebration of the UNESCO designated World Heritage Week. The combined magic of music and monument has been luring eminent architects and art and music lovers from around the country for eight seasons in a row. Pairing the charm, grandeur, and elegance of the architectural wonder with enchanting music, the festivals have received an overwhelming response from city folks, media, art lovers and authorities.
